Research studies on bureaucracy and social accountability efforts cover two domains:

The first set of research products focus on documenting and evaluating the many social accountability experiments that have unfolded in India over the last decade. The objective of this research is to contribute towards efforts at building a robust analytical framework on the theory of social accountability and its impact on citizen participatory and the quality of services delivered.

The second set of research products study public administration in India. The emphasis of this research is on building a greater body of knowledge on the understanding how the Indian state bureaucracy works particularly at the level of implementation. This research is aimed at understanding the everyday practices of local bureaucrats, the decision-making systems within which they function and the organizational culture and norms that this fosters.
