Our vision is to make an accountable and responsive governance system a reality in India. This requires actionable information for decision makers and key policy implementers at all levels - local, district, state and national. Since our founding in 2008, our research has done just that by building knowledge on the country’s governance structures, service delivery, best practices, and challenges. Our flagship research products are:
- Budget Briefs which analyse macro level budget trends on social sector programmes, and;
- The Planning, Allocations and Expenditures, Institutions Studies (PAISA) which use large scale expenditure tracking surveys on plans, budgets and fund flows. PAISA is the largest citizen-led effort of its kind in the country.
We have documented and evaluated citizen focused accountability experiments, and studied the implementation capabilities of administration at the frontlines of service delivery. These research insights on public finance and public administration have been used by governments, Civil Society Organisations and the academia.
