Smart Cities Mission (SCM) is Government of India’s (GoI’s) urban rejuvenation mission launched on 25 June 2015. The Mission was initiated with the objective of providing core infrastructure, and decent quality of life to its citizens, along with a clean and sustainable environment.

The brief uses government data to analyse the following components of the scheme:
■ Allocations and releases;
■ Utilisation of funds;
■ Project cost and completion rates; and
■ Funding through Public Private Partnership (PPP).
